On 21st November Sustrans DIY Streets project was joined by the National Civil Service’s The Challenge. It was a day of lantern making, face painting, cake decorating and fun!
Many residents described their concerns about going to Rose Lane after dark, owing to poor lighting and antisocial behaviour. We responded by adding lighting to our long list of urban design solutions. We wait to hear whether we can have further funding for this exciting element of the project. In the meantime we will add lighting to the trees on Rose Lane. We wanted to take our finished lanterns out after the workshop, to celebrate Marks Gate in the dark, but the poor weather wouldn’t allow it. We think everyone enjoyed making their lanterns anyway. Have a look at the wonderful creations we all made.
